Principle Structural Engineer

Job Description

  • Lead designer on a range of projects appropriate to your level of experience
  • Preparation of structural scheme designs
  • Managing the workflow of structural analysis models/ BIM models
  • Carrying out structural analysis and design
  • Leading the production of drawings and reports
  • Working closely and guiding technicians and junior engineering staff
  • Attending meetings with the design team, contractors, and clients
  • Collaborating with architects and other disciplines in the design team
  • Leading the project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines
  • Attending site to carry out inspections

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • A third level qualification (Level 8 Degree or higher) in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Ideally a chartered engineer with Engineers Ireland or the Institute of Structural Engineers
  • 6-10years’ experience in a Civil/Structural Engineering office in a design role
  • Good management and organisational skills
  • Experience in reinforced concrete design to the Eurocodes
  • Proficient in the use of structural design software, e.g., Robot,MasterSeries, SCIA,Tekla, etc
  • Good technical capability and a proactive approach to solving problems
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working in the EU using Eurocodes
  • Eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • A level 9 Master’s Degree in a related discipline
  • Experience in structural steel design to the Eurocodes
  • A working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD
  • Experience in finite element analysis generating 3D structural models
  • Technical report writing capability
